Early College Academy

Saint John Vianney High School welcomed its inaugural class of Early College Academy students in September 2014. Created in conjunction with Brookdale Community College, the Early College Academy at SJV provides the opportunity for select students to earn an Associate of Arts in Social Sciences or Associate of Science in Computer Science from Brookdale Community College while earning their high school diploma. As the only Catholic high school in Monmouth County to have this type of coalition with a public two-year college, Saint John Vianney High School is excited to welcome new ECA students each year.

Students who enroll in the Early College Academy will take all of their BCC classes at Saint John Vianney High School for the first three years. In their fourth year, they will travel to Brookdale Community College for the majority of their classes. Teachers at SJV who provide BCC course instruction are approved by the college as adjunct instructors. The cost of the program will be a percentage of BCC’s full-time tuition divided over the course of a student’s four years at Saint John Vianney High School.

SJV has developed a curriculum map to accommodate our students’ interest in math, science, and arts electives. This curriculum plan allows the students to earn appropriate credits for a high school diploma, meet the needs of four-year colleges, and earn an Associate of Arts in Social Sciences or Associate of Science in Computer Science degree from Brookdale Community College.

Business Academy

In September 2022, Saint John Vianney rolled out the Dual Enrollment Business Academy, giving select students the opportunity to take college-level business courses and get a head start on their college career. This initiative, is offered in partnership with courses offered by the University of Delaware, Georgian Court University and Brookdale Community College. Participation in the academy will be offered to incoming freshmen who meet the academic requirements and are willing to enroll in the academy for all four years of high school.

Once accepted, Business Academy students will be introduced to their first Dual Enrollment course in ninth grade. In subsequent years they will take Dual Enrollment courses in financial accounting, management theory, organizational behavior, micro and macroeconomics, marketing, entrepreneurship, and business law, as well as English and Psychology for a total of 14 college-level courses. At the same time, students will take all the requirements to graduate from the college preparatory high school, including honors courses. All Dual Enrollment courses will be taught on campus during the school day by SJV faculty certified as adjunct professors by the affiliated institutions. Upon completing the Business Academy course of work, students will have earned 42 college credits.

Air Force JROTC

Beginning in Spring 2025, Saint John Vianney High School will launch the Air Force Junior ROTC program. Air Force JROTC is a fully academically accredited, and inclusive program that is open to all students in the 9th to 12th grades. The mission of this program is "to develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community."

Air Force JROTC teaches essential skills and reinforces personal traits to help students succeed in life, no matter what type of career they choose following high school. These life skills are based on the Air Force's core values of "integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do." Students will learn the important aspects of leadership, followership, adherence to personal appearance and grooming standards, and proper uniform wear.

Members of this program will have the opportunity to participate in activities that will reinforce the lessons they will learn in the classroom and provide them with an opportunity to lead and learn among their peers. These activities are "hands-on" teaching tools and are enjoyable and exciting ways to reinforce the importance of teamwork, service, a positive attitude and image, and hard work. Air Force JROTC is where a student will not only start to grasp essential life lessons but will truly feel a sense of accomplishment, belonging, and pride that comes with teamwork and success.

If a student joins Air Force JROTC in high school, there is never any obligation to join the military.
