Campus Ministry

Campus Ministry at Saint John Vianney High School is a vital part of the school community. SJV is dedicated to nurturing and fostering a new life and identity in Christ among our students while reinforcing this ethos among our faculty, staff, and parents. All our programs and services are designed to support this new creation, focusing on Gospel values such as service and love of neighbor. Campus Ministry serves as a bridge between the Church's faith and our students' social culture. We aim to help students recognize how God is actively working within their culture, integrating faith into their everyday lives and experiences.

The Campus Ministry Office provides spiritual guidance, support, and programs and activities that promote faith formation and personal growth among students. These include Masses, opportunities to serve as liturgical assistants, retreats, and service opportunities to foster a strong sense of community and Catholic values.

At SJV, Campus Ministry creates a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students, regardless of their religious background, and serves as a resource for students to explore and deepen their faith while navigating their high school years.

If you have any questions about Campus Ministry, please feel free to contact Patrick Smith, Campus Minister, at psmith@sjvhs.com, ext. 234.

Christian Service

At Saint John Vianney High School, we fervently encourage our students to engage in Christian service and make a positive impact in their communities. SJV runs many service trips throughout the school year to allow students to serve the local community together and live out Jesus' call to service others. These trips are open to all students and are chaperoned by various faculty/staff members.

Senior students must complete 30 hours of service as a graduation requirement. Students in grades 9-11 who successfully complete 30 or more hours of service will receive well-deserved recognition for their efforts.

Schoolwide Collections

The Campus Ministry Office sponsors three major collections for the school community each year: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. In addition, students are encouraged to work with the Campus Ministry Office to run collections. On average, about 10-12 student-initiated collections run each year.

Retreats

Students participate in a retreat day with the rest of their classmates each year. These retreats offer students the time to reflect on God's role in their lives and how they can know Him more deeply – through prayer, service, and reflection.
