Teachers and staff at Saint John Vianney High School are dedicated to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment where students can explore their artistic passions and pursue their creative aspirations.
Fine Arts
Fine Arts education at Saint John Vianney High School is based on the philosophy that art and music are essential components of a quality life. Education in fine arts is an integral part of the total school program. The arts provide varied and powerful ways of communicating ideas and feelings both as individuals and as members of communities. The visual and performing arts challenge students' creative abilities and foster individual expression. In accordance with the social teachings of our Catholic church, this department emphasizes the principle of Solidarity. Music and Art recognize the human family and embrace the unique contributions of our global neighbors, regardless of national, racial, ethnic, economic, and ideological differences.
Visual Arts
At Saint John Vianney High School, our student artists have an exciting palette of visual arts opportunities from which to choose. Our Fine Arts Department, comprised of teachers who are also practicing artists, provides students with a strong foundation of artistic study in a variety of media, from 2-D and 3-D studio art to historical perspective. Students' creative process is encouraged through design, drawing, painting, and sculpture in each of our courses. Examples of student work decorate the hallways, classrooms, and offices of the school building. Many exemplary student pieces are entered into local and state art competitions throughout the year, and our students frequently gain accolades. Many students take elective courses in fine arts to round out their educational experiences.

Theater Program
Our Theater Program at Saint John Vianney High School, Lancer Productions, offers our student-thespians practical experiences in all aspects of theater, including acting, singing, dancing, technical production work, and academic studies.

Lancer Productions presents two to three major productions during the school year. Our theater director chooses productions that best showcase our student's talents. Students can find "leading roles" not only on the stage but as a Student Director, Student Choreographer, or Student Stage Manager, and all work closely with professionals in the field to learn the craft firsthand. The technical crew is essential to all productions, where students assist with lighting, sound, costumes, props, and stage setup.
